Design without Borders

Intergalactix:
against isolation / contra el aislamiento

Brand design

Mission: To create a space for diasporic research and artworks examining the violence generated by physical and conceptual borders and severe immigration policies.

Approach: Inspired by topography, I set out to create shapes that embrace the forms and features of land surfaces and how we interact with and against the earth. With organic textures, I set out to form an imperfect path rendered in a perfect pattern.

Outcome: The organic textures and neutral colors of the branded patterns complemented the mixed medium artwork. The grid, partial and fragmented, reminds us how people have historically claimed land, breaking free to create their own path.

Impact: By reflecting the many forms of resistance built collectively across regions, this project established a platform of exchange and dialogue among artists, poets, activists, curators and writers from different areas and practices.

ART INSTILLATION / Rotating Disks

Inspired by Duchamp's Rotoreliefs as well as constellation maps, I created this series of 12” rotating disks with the content provided by Cog•nate Collective.

In thinking through the centrality of "Trans" as strategy, we actually envisioned a final disc that would essentially have the prefix "TRANS-" and all the concepts/ideas relating to this that came up in the encuentros: TRANS-border, TRANS-gender, TRANS-form…
