Mission: To encourage engagement with lead artist Jackie Amezquita’s mobile installation project—a two-day event honoring immigrants who died inside ICE detention centers and raising awareness around the border crisis, genocide, and fatal reality many immigrants face upon arriving to the US.
Approach: I prepared three stylescapes for the artist to choose from. The preferred creative direction involved eye-catching visuals and a distinct brand identity that enhances the project message. To give it a documentary feel, I colorized the images with deep brown tones.
Outcome: In just one Design Day, I created a full brand complete with social media templates, branded name, and color palette. The final concept felt provocative, innovative, and respectful, providing a strong foundation that allowed the artist to create marketing materials in-house.
Impact: Using soil collected across state border lines, Jackie wrote the names of immigrants who lost their lives seeking a better future. Her work compelled people from across the country to join the event and visit ICE Detention Centers and pro-immigrant mutual aid organizations. The cohesive look and feel that I created made it easy to share on social media while legitimizing the powerful project.
